“One of the best things we've ever done - felt relaxed and not too serious, sometimes workshop people take themselves too seriously so was good to have some humour injected.”

What You Will Learn

We are all storytellers now with social media imploring us to share. In this highly interactive and practical workshops participants will learn how to tell stories for personal impact. You’ll be working with a writer and performer who creates stories for a living, Max Dickins,

Learn the craft of storytelling for business in order to: influence more effectively at work, sell ideas to clients and stakeholders and understand the relevance of storytelling for business, for individuals and for brands.

This storytelling for business workshop runs for up to 20 people, with 15 as the ideal number to take part with one trainer – however we can also run it for many more. We recently ran an event for over 150 digital specialists at the Barbican for Accenture Digital with glowing feedback. Facebook also loved the immersive and playful nature of the course, with practical take-aways. We can run it at your office location or at a suitably theatrical London venue for added oomph!

There is a reason why there are so many books, talks and conversations about the power of stories, and how to tell a story. Why do we love our favourite stories? Do they need a beginning, middle and end, and a character who changes by the conclusion? Here are a selection of our favourite TED talks on the subject by masters of storytelling from Disney filmmaker Andrew Stanton, to Isabel Allende to JJ Abrahams as they explore new answers to age-old questions of the craft. Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic voice and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding. We can learn from all of these perspectives about how to tell better stories ourselves. How to tell stories via TED.

We run this as an open training a couple of times a year for individuals and small groups to attend. Please contact us for more details.

“It was good to have someone who was so upbeat and passionate about his topic. I really enjoyed his session and thought it was a great afternoon.” Participant, Royal London

“The word storytelling is a bit like the word happiness, because almost everyone has a different definition. It is often seen by people as a synonym for ‘presenting information’ or talking about a strategy or a process or a customer journey. Stories have people in them, human beings, who are having experiences that they have an emotional reaction to. And through going through that process they learn some insight. The benefit of doing training is that it can help people really see when they are, and when they’re not, telling a story, and how to craft a great one.” Max Dickins. Find out more in this longer interview with Max here.
